A reminder that you don't have to do it all
I was listening to a podcast this morning and it reminded me that it's normal to feel that you can't do it all.
This decision of mine to go out into business by myself, to try and make a go of it, is a tough one, precisely because, if you're in the right job, you are doing all of the things you love, but for other people.
When I was a journalist, I found that I was less likely to read books - because when you're on the computer all day, writing for a living you just don't have the energy to read anymore. And then that thing that you love disappears. It kind of feels like it's going the same way with the blog!
I'm blogging for clients and really enjoying it but when I get to the end of the day the last thing that I want to do is go on the computer or read a book. Totally ridiculous. Just it's funny how it comes in waves, right?
I'm sure that everyone experiences this at some stage or another - you become so busy trying to do your work, when you add in all of the admin and other jobs that you need to do to actually run the business you realise that there aren't enough hours in the day!
This is a reminder that it’s better to focus on doing one thing well than thinking that you’d be able to do everything well. Perhaps a lesson in asking for help, and figuring out where we really need that help.
